【摘要】:Severaltestmethodsforcarbonblackrequirethereductioninsamplesizeortheblendingofthetestsampletoreducethevariationofthemeasuredcharacteristic.Otherfactorsbeingequal,largersampleswilltendtobemorerepresentativeofthetotalsupply.Thispracticeprovidesproceduresforreducingthelargesampleobtainedfromthebagandbulksamplingpracticestoaconvenientsizeforconductinganumberofteststodescribethematerialandmeasureitsqualityinsuchamannerthatthesmallerportionismostlikelytobearepresentationofthebulksample.Failuretofollowtheproceduresinthispracticecouldresultinprovidinganonrepresentativesampletobeusedinsubsequenttesting.Individualtestmethodsprovideforminimumamountsofmaterialtobetested.TestMethodA,ReductionofSampleSize,istypicallyusedtoobtainanaliquotfromalargesample,splittingablackintotwoormoreequalportions,orreducingablendedblackfromTestMethodBtoaspecifiedsamplesize.Thefinalsampleisalwayssmallerthantheoriginalsampleandwouldnotbeconsideredtobeax201C;wellblendedx201D;sample.TestMethodB,BlendingofCarbonBlack,istypicallyusedtoprepareahomogeneoussample.Thehomogeneoussamplemaybeusedforseveraltests(seeNote3)ormaybereducedinsizebyTestMethodA.Thefinalsamplesizeisthesameastheoriginal.Whenasampleistobeblendedandreduced,thesampleshouldbeblended(TestMethodB)beforereduction(TestMethodA).Theblendingandreductionmustbedonebeforethesampleisdried(TestMethodC).1.1Thispracticedescribestheprocedureforblendingofpelletedcarbonblack,theprocedureforthereductionofgrosssamplesofpelletedcarbonblacktotheappropriatesizefortestingandthepreparationofthesamplefortesting.Thesetechniquesareintendedtominimizevariationsinmeasuredcharacteristicsbetweentestsamples.StandardterminologyrelatingtocarbonblacksamplesisfoundinTerminologyD3053.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
